Raspberry + Reishi Hot Chocolate

Feeling tired, but wired?
Instead of reaching for that second (or third) coffee, try one of these instead!

Infused with reishi, this recipe is the perfect alternative to coffee. A powerful adaptogen, this medicinal mushroom has become increasingly popular of late for its soothing & calming properties. (Of course, it’s been utilised within Eastern medicine for millennia!). More recently, studies have also found that with regular consumption, reishi may reduce fatigue and promote sustained energy levels.

Paired with the uplifting properties of theobromine from cacao, this raspberry + reishi hot choc created by nutritionist Lisa, is the perfect pick-me-up (without the jitters!).

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 1 tsp of freeze-dried raspberries (+ a little extra for sprinkling on top)

  • 1-2ml Bright Valley Mushrooms Reishi Extract

  • 1-2 squares of dark choc (optional)

  • Milk of choice (I used coconut)

  • A touch of sweetener (I used maple syrup)

Method:

  1. Crush raspberries into a powder using a mortar + pestle, or the back of a spoon, & place in the bottom of your glass.

  2. Add cacao powder & dark chocolate, then fill glass 1/3 full with hot water.

  3. Steam milk & add to glass.

  4. Add 1-2ml of @brightvalleymushroom extract & stir through.

  5. Sprinkle a little extra raspberry over the top, & enjoy!
