The Vision Behind
Bright Valley Mushrooms
Bright Valley Mushrooms, founded by Samuel, was birthed with a fundamental purpose to connect open-minded humans, with a natural source of food and energy.
Inspired by the undeniably unique mushroom kingdom - we aim to deliver not just quality products, but also support a growing network of employees & small-businesses, the environment, and the general awareness of food sources as a health practice too.
Mushrooms is our craft, but Bright Valley Mushrooms also represents a diverse array of smaller passions too (beyond mushrooms).
My background as a carpenter taught me many things. It taught me the high-stress that a working life can present to the body and mind. It taught me the importance of seeking food sources that help rather than hinder. It taught me the power & potential a community can have in creating environment where people mutually thrive. After finding fulfilment in the carpentry chapter of my career, I gravitated towards movement, yoga, health & wellness, food nutrition and ultimately, teaching. These lessons from my time as a carpenter grounded me to my values, but teaching is certainly a true calling in this next chapter of my career.
Just as the fungi kingdom has done for many years - providing nutrients to others, breaking down waste into useful resources, and connecting so cohesively through the fungi network - I am intrinsically driven to give back. Teaching feels like a foundational way to do that.
I wish to teach others the power of movement, the lessons I have learned from my adventures through nutrition and medicine, and the value of the natural products that have brought me exponential benefit. It’s also a passion to pay forward the incredible way that I have been supported in previous jobs to not only feel valued, but also reach my full potential. These elements are the pillars of the vision that I have for Bright Valley Mushrooms.
Why we love Mushrooms?
‘Why Mushrooms’ is definitely the most asked question I receive. I am truly fascinated by the uniqueness of mushrooms - and see them as a nutritious source of both food and energy, a food group of their own. Mushrooms, unlike many other vegetables we know, are a natural product that have not been changed, adapted or modified over time: their value is abundant in the exact natural form of which they are grown. They offer both macronutrient & micronutrient profiles which benefit mind, body and health, and in my experience, offer a holistic medicinal benefit. For the people who feel that they have “tried everything”, mushrooms have been a valued alternative. They offer a subtle approach to medicine, producing gradual positive change over time, and work synergistically with the body’s process of adaptation. When I personally researched and tried different products to support my body through periods of high-stress, mushrooms were a varied range of food that I found long-lasting & positive benefit from.
Mushrooms are therefore, a product that I feel is worth sharing, educating about and distributing. One element of small businesses that I admire is the common desire to offer a product that, as best as possible, provides value and benefit to consumers, whilst reducing the negative impacts on the rest of the world. Given the natural existence of mushrooms, the human benefit they provide, and also the environmental benefit they are capable of - I felt there was no better product to teach others about.
With mush love
We look forward to consciously and collaboratively growing Bright Valley Mushrooms in years to come, and bringing more incredible humans both into the community of like-minded
souls, but also into the business. It is both an honour and
privilege to connect with the village-like network of small
business owners with similar values and visions, and beyond
the mushies, has been a fulfilling journey to embark on.
